Accessibility Statement

Shefa's accessibility commitment, what we have built for, known limitations, and how to tell us about a barrier.

Draft — pending legal review

This text is a working draft. It has not yet been approved by Saudi legal counsel, and passages marked ⟨like this⟩ are still to be completed. Do not rely on it as the final agreement.

1. Our commitment

Healthcare booking has to work for everyone, including people who use a screen reader, navigate by keyboard, need large text, or are sensitive to motion. We build the platform to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, and we treat that as a condition of release rather than an improvement to make later.

2. What that means in practice

  • Every part of the site can be operated by keyboard, with a visible focus indicator and a skip link to the main content.
  • Pages use proper headings, landmarks and labels so a screen reader can convey their structure — including the slot picker, where date, time, price and availability are announced rather than implied by colour or position.
  • Text can be enlarged to 200% and the layout reflows to a narrow screen without losing price or policy information.
  • Colour is never the only way information is conveyed, and we hold contrast to the AA thresholds.
  • Form errors are announced and tied to the field they belong to.
  • Motion is reduced automatically when your device asks for it, and no information depends on animation.
  • Arabic is a first-class language, laid out right-to-left rather than mirrored, with identifiers, numbers and times kept unambiguous in both directions.

3. Known limitations

Some parts of the experience are not fully under our control. Maps are inherently visual, so wherever a map appears the same information — address, directions and contact details — is available as text. The hosted payment page belongs to our payment provider and follows its own accessibility standard. Content submitted by providers and patients, such as biographies and reviews, may not always meet the standard we apply to our own text.

A full audit with assistive technology is carried out before launch, and this section is updated with anything it finds that remains outstanding.

4. Tell us about a barrier

If something on the platform is difficult or impossible to use, we want to hear about it — tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and the device or assistive technology you were using. We aim to reply within five working days and, where we cannot fix something quickly, to offer another way to complete what you were doing, including booking by phone.
